Dries Fourie from Vereeniging Photographic Society is our November winner!
Dries, congratulations on your winning image – Thou shalt not tame the Lion in Me
Dries says: –
What inspired my enthusiasm to do this composite is a painting, named “Rock of Ages” which was painted By Johannes Oertel in the 1860s. It is a young woman clinging onto a rock cross, surrounded by rough seas, praying for the Lord, with a sunbeam breaking through the dramatic stormy clouds. The painting is a religious symbolism of faith. Your faith will keep you safe through difficult times. There will always be a light somewhere in the dark
My composite creation consisted of multiple exposures to expose the true power of the religious symbolic meaning to the Image.
The Angels in the dramatic stormy sky was from true renaissance artist paintings, I photographed all over Europe, symbolizing that the Angels are watching over you. The sun bursting through the horizon sky is the beacon and essence of light and hope.
The Authoritative Christ-Lion, who retreats before no human race. The Lion of Judah who has triumphed over all sin. The Lion, King of beasts
The power of prayer, Jesus, who kneels and prayer by a rock, a rock that never wears away with time
Our 1st runner-up is Karen Mc Carthy from

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Senior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Web site for the duration of the month.
For the Senior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the Senior club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Click here to download instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Senior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
