Jan Roos from Brandpuntfotoklub is our November winner!
Jan, congratulations on your winning image – Opgewonde
Jan says:
The Southern Double-collared Sunbird is such a vibrant and energetic little bird, and its territorial antics have been fascinating to watch. Using my Nikon D500 paired with a 600mm lens was a great choice to capture those intricate details and isolate the bird beautifully against the dark green backdrop.
My camera settings were F8.0 for a sharp depth of field, 1/1600 shutter speed and ISO 1600 to manage the lighting. Kirstenbosch is a stunning location, and it was a treat to see the sunbird perched on the Protea, claiming it as its own. This Southern Double Collared sunbird gave us quite a show.
Our 1st Runner-up is Annaline Werth from Randburg Fotoklub, with “Perfect Timing”
Our 2nd Runner-up is Leon Venter from Bethal Fotografieklub with “On top of the World”
Thank you to the judges:
Johan Drotsky – Bethal Fotografieklub
Anton la Grange – Mosselbay Camera Club
Annemarie Robertson – Port Elizabeth Camera Club

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where authors enter their own image onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our website for the duration of the month.
Entries for the website competition are entered by the authors themselves via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Click here to download instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault.
All images must be original and must not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrants certify the work as their own. The PSSA Director of Competitions has the right to ask for the RAW files.
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA uses them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Website Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
