Mietsie Visser

Growing up in Namibia and being inspired by my father’s photography there, I always framed images in my mind. I received my first camera at 10 (plastic, B/W film strip) and took mostly record shots. My second camera was a Konica with a separate light meter!

I bought a DSLR in 2010 and joined Vanderbijlparkse Fotografiese Vereniging in 2012, of which I am still a very active member. This really changed my life, and my love for and knowledge of photography just took flight!  I joined the PSSA two years later and participate in salons on a regular basis. I have been judging at clubs and at salon level for the past 6 years.

I have since obtained a LPSSA, APSSA, FPSSA, DPSSA(Vers) and EPSSA(Mille).

Winning the Wilderness Safaris Photographic Competition Landscape category, as well as the television programme, 50/50, first prize for still photography in 2017, was inspirational.

I am passionate about Wildlife Photography and travel far and wide with my husband in Southern Africa for this, but love Landscape, Sport and Portraiture equally.
