FROM THE DESK OF THE PRO
After a very successful Congress at Swellendam (view post Congress feedback and pics here) I am sure our Salons are now exibiting the beauty in that area of our country in the images being entered. With our summer now upon us, our photographic opportunities are even more in meeting our challenges in this wonderful hobby of photography.
Ansel Adams said “You don’t make a photograph just with a camera, you bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
SALONS
Very positive feedback coming in from the Clubs who have already ran Salons on the new format of live judging. The allocation of Salons for the remainder of this calendar year to June 2016 is in the process of being finalised and will be published soon.
CONGRESSES
North Eastern Provinces (NEP)’s Regional Congress (view post Congress feedback and pics here) was very successful with some very different professional and creative presentations.
Next Regional Congress is 17 October CERPS (Eastern Gauteng). Please give this your full support.
Cape Photographers Congress in Prince Albert in April 2016.
Of course our 2016 National Congress in Langebaan next year is well ahead with its organisation. Approximately 50 delegates have already booked – PLEASE KEEP CHECKING our website for all the updates on all Congresses within PSSA.
COMPETITIONS
It was very encouraging and motivating to see that five more clubs entered this month into the Club Winning Images competition as well as more entries in the Website Winning Images competition. Please, as mentioned last month, delegate this task of entering for the Clubs to one person in the club. Also please ensure that you enter your Club name and not leave it as Independent. We all enjoy seeing the images from the clubs within our Society. PLEASE LET US SEE ANOTHER INCREASE NEXT MONTH OF CLUBS ENTERING THIS COMPETITION.
Still on competitions: from January 2016 the club website yearly competition will be randomly viewed by three judges during the months January to June 2016. The results will be accounced at the National Congress along with all the other competition results. To qualify for entry to the PSSA Website Competition 2016, PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR CLUB’S WEBSITE LINK IS ON THE PSSA WEBSITE UNDER YOUR CLUB INFORMATION.
OUR MAGAZINE
“Image” will be posted next week. This edition was held back in order to include our recent National Congress in Swellendam plus the update on all the new Board members and functions.
MEMBERSHIP
Just a friendly reminder that annual subs are now due, if you have not received your reminder of payment, please contact Ria our Membership Secretary.
JAP (Judging Accreditation Programme)
Excluding the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Garden Route and KZN regions, the JAP workshops are now commencing again. Your Regional Directors have all the information on it, PLEASE CONTACT THEM.
COE CERTIFICATES FOR OUR YOUTH
The closing date for the applications for this honour is the 15th October 2015. PLEASE if your club is involved with the youth in your Region assist where you can. This falls under the Honours Portfolio, so if you have any queries on it please direct them to Jill Sneesby.
Lots of info this month but info that is important to you as members, as you are the Society. Our Society is growing in many new areas and lots of positive feedback coming through, please continue to give us as much feedback as possible as this is the only way that we can move forward. The Society certainly has a hard working team on the Board working to the benefit of its members.
