Sandy van Heerden from Durban Camera Club is our May winner!
Sandy, congratulations on your winning image – Eye to Eye

Sandy says:
It was a Monday morning in February and I decided to go to Durban Botanic Gardens for some bird photography. I was a few meters away in my approach to the large pond when I saw the heron catch the fish. Fortunately I had my camera slung over my shoulder and with a quick shutter speed adjustment I was able to capture the whole sequence of him swallowing the fish. During my processing of the images later, I was so thrilled to discover that the timing was perfect for my ‘Eye to eye’ image.
I learnt a valuable lesson that morning – make sure that your camera is out and ready to shoot, otherwise I would never have captured this moment!😊

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where authors enter their own image onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our website for the duration of the month.
Entries for the website competition are entered by the authors themselves via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Click here to download instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault.
All images must be original and must not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrants certify the work as their own. The PSSA Director of Competitions has the right to ask for the RAW files.
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA uses them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Website Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
