Nicci van As (Independent) is our July winner!
Nicci, congratulations on your winning image – African Hummingbird Hawk-Moth
Nicci says:
I took the photo in our local nature reserve, Faan Meintjies, just outside Klerksdorp. There was a patch of purple flowers next to the dirt road in the reserve, alive with butterflies and African Hummingbird Hawk-Moths. The moths usually hover in one place while sipping the nectar from the flowers, and if one is patient, it isn’t too difficult to get a good photo.
I used my Nikon D500 with the Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 lens at 500mm (750mm equivalent, as it is a crop sensor camera), f/5.6, 1/5000 sec at ISO 250.
Our 1st Runner-up is Craig Morgan from Randburg Photo Club with “Heated Argument”
Our 2nd Runner-up is Anton la Grange from Mosselbaai Kameraklub with “Dahlia Peaches and Cream”
Thank you to the judges:
Corine Ross – Krugersdorp Kameraklub
Anette Reimers – Port Elizabeth Camera Club
Francois Venter – National Photographic Club (NPC)

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where authors enter their own image onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our website for the duration of the month.
Entries for the website competition are entered by the authors themselves via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Click here to download instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault.
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA uses them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Website Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
