Margie Botha is a passionate South African photographer currently residing in Johannesburg South Africa, with her husband Johan. Margie had a dedicated 36-year career as a school teacher, working with children with physical and mental disabilities, a career she enjoyed very much.
Photography, while a hobby, is a lifelong passion that she enjoys deeply, especially when shared with her husband. She began exploring photography in the early 1990s and has since become an active member of the South African Photographic Society
Margie holds a Fellowship of the Photographic Society of South Africa (FPSSA) and an Associateship with the International Federation of Photographic Art (AFIAP).
She served as the editor of Image, the official monthly magazine of the Photographic Society of South Africa.
Margie has a deep love for wildlife and nature photography, which has taken her and Johan to some of the most iconic locations across Africa and internationally. In addition to nature, they embrace all genres of photography, seizing opportunities to travel both nationally and internationally.
An experienced photographic judge, Margie has served on judging panels for club competitions, congresses, and salons—both national and international. Her international judging experience includes Australia and the prestigious German Mega Circuit Salon, which she judged twice. She has also served as a judge for Photogen, a German photography magazine.
