Mari Rossouw from Brandpuntfotoklub is our June winner!
Mari, congratulations on your winning image – Crash

Mari says:
My sister’s son plays hockey for the NWU (Pukke) team, and they came to Bloemfontein on 16 March 2025 to play against UFS (Kovsies). The two people in the photo are friends of his — they all went to school together and also played for their school’s first hockey team. My sister asked me to take a few photos of them playing that day.
I really enjoy sports photography, especially since my daughter is also a hockey player and an athlete. I’m still learning every day, and sometimes you just get lucky with shots like this one!
My camera settings:
Focal Length 400mm
Lens EF100-400mm f/4.5 – 5.6L IS
Exposure 1/1500 sec
f/5.6
ISO 1000
Our 1st Runner-up is Hanlie de Beer from Sasol Highveld Photography Club with “Lugbalon lyne”

Our 2nd Runner-up is Sonja Olivier from Edenvale Photographic Club with “Lilac Breasted Roller”

Thank you to the judges:

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Senior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Web site for the duration of the month.
For the Junior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the Junior club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Click here to download instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault
All images must be original and must not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. By virtue of submitting an entry, the clubs must certify all the work in the entered image as their club member’s own. The PSSA Director of Competitions has the right to ask for the RAW files.
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Senior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
