All Scholars/Students (up to 21 Years) may enter the monthly PSSA Youth Website Competition.
The categories are Open Colour, Open Monochrome, Nature, Photojournalism and Set Subject.
A total of 5 images may be entered per month.
All individual youth members may enter 2 images per category. The total entries allowed per month are five.
The images are judged, and monthly winners are announced.
At the end of the year, all the monthly winners compete for the Annual winner of each category and out of these six winners, the Overall Best Image of the year is chosen.
The competition uses the PhotoVaultOnline.com online entry system.
Type the address http://www.photovaultonline.com in your browser and log in,
or register if you are not already a user.
One can enter the monthly competition as follows:
Open your Photovault account.
• Go to “My Clubs” and proceed to “My Club Entries”.
• When the screen “Select a Club” appears, go to the Action with the closing date of the month you want to enter. i.e. Schools – Youth Photographers
• Click on “Enter Here”, proceed and upload your images for the competition.
The competition can only be entered via Photovault.
If you don’t have an account on Photovault, you can register and upload the images there.
Do not submit:
– Non-relevant images
– Similar images: Images with the same combination of subject, background, foreground and location are not allowed. Images must be distinct
– Same image multiple times (cropped, angle change or tone changes)
– AI (Artificial Intelligence) generated images
– Previously entered images.
– Any Images that don’t comply with the above may be removed from the challenge

Closing date on the 20th of each Month
The change to the Set Subject entries is that both Colour and Monochrome images will be allowed for entry. This is only valid in the Set Subject Category of the competition.
January – Same but different
The term describes two things that are similar to some degree but not the same
Look at two dancers performing., Both are dancers but they are different. Or an image of someone looking into a mirror. The same but one is a reflection.

February – World in Focus
Just like travel and tourism pictures, this section encompasses the full range of photographic genres from architecture, culture, events, food, landscape, portraits, etc. A “WORLD IN FOCUS” image expresses the spirit of an era, the essence of a place or of a culture, whether it is shown in an authentic scene or whether it is arranged. Digital manipulation to optimise an image in terms of finetuning of levels and colours is allowed as long as the image looks natural. The same applies for removal of dust or digital noise. Techniques that add, relocate, replace, or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted.

September – Triangular composition
Triangle composition relies on the use of triangular shapes or concepts to create a better image. Triangles can be found everywhere. Signs, architecture, geography, sailboats, food, arrows, aviation, wallpaper, optical illusions.
