Rob Heffer

FPSSA

After attending a photographic course in 2010, my eyes were suddenly opened to the incredible world around us…a world that I felt I had never properly seen before and one which could be captured in camera in such a multitude of different ways… from that day forward I was mesmerised by this wonderful art form.

I particularly love landscape photography which, I guess, has become my signature focus area, but I also love the world of wildlife photography and since retiring from the corporate world in January 2021, I hope to do more of that as well. However, a newly developed love which is hugely exciting to me, has been playing around with and trying to develop my skills in art photography. I love painting and using other forms of multi-media together with photography and this, in itself, opens up an entire new world of creative possibilities.

I achieved my LPSSA in Digital Colour in June 2014 and followed that up with my APSSA, also in Digital colour in January 2016. In 2018, I received a further APSSA in the Applied category for a 100 page book that I put together using my images as the base and included some poetry and motivational writings. Then, after a photographic journey to Iceland in 2019, I put forward a portfolio of images for my FPSSA which I received in January 2020.

I started out my photographic journey as a member of the East London Camera Club in 2010 and after moving to Port Elizabeth in 2012, I joined the PE Camera Club where I am still a member. After leaving the corporate world, I moved to Port Alfred and am also a member of that club.

I have furthermore served on the Port Elizabeth Camera Club committee as Auditor for the past 3 years. I have also been through the Judge Appreciation Programme (JAP) training with Jill Sneesby and have performed judging duties at club, salon and national level in various forms. I was extremely humbled and honoured to have been asked to judge on the Honours panel for PSSA in July 2022.

In 2021 I was appointed to the PSSA board as the Eastern Cape Regional Director.
