Ursula Baumann from Randburg Photo Club is our Octoberwinner!
Ursula, congratulations on your winning image – Blue Rhino
Ursula says:
The original colour image had a strong blue tone. The mono version, which I did later, must however be the same name.
So, I stuck with the original title, and imagine that the Rhino is feeling blue. LOL
The Rhino was taken at Zimanga Game Reserve in KZN. The rhinos arrived at the water hole just before sunset and that was an amazing moment where I hardly beathed for quite a few minutes.
The grass in the foreground and the background clouds, I captured in Namibia in 2006 (18 years ago with my first digital camera).
I like to create drama and mood in my images and love ‘drama in the sky’.
This image is special to me, for it’s a combination of 2 x very memorable trips in one image.
Our 1st Runner-up is Hannes Claassens from Midlens Fotoklub, with “Jumping spider 7473”
Our 2nd Runner-up is Eric Bosman from Kriel Foto Club with “Amper Daar”
Thank you to the judges:
Haig Fourie – Vanderblylpark Fotografiese Vereniging.
Nicci van As – Independent

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where authors enter their own image onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our website for the duration of the month.
Entries for the website competition are entered by the authors themselves via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Click here to download instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault.
All images must be original and must not incorporate elements produced by anyone else. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrants certify the work as their own. The PSSA Director of Competitions has the right to ask for the RAW files.
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA uses them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Website Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
