Congratulations to Dries Fourie from Vereeniging Photographic Society!
He is our January winner with his image “Feed time”
It was late in the afternoon driving on the highway in the Cape George area, when I noticed a lot of activity happening in a huge tree in the far distance. The next day my wife dropped me of on the main road. It took me a long time, bashing my way through the woods to reach the tree, blood was running down my legs and I had thorns everywhere.
I was amazed, the tree was packed with around 200 birds with plus minus 30 nests. The late afternoon sun played a important role for perfect light conditions, so I had to go back 3 times to get the the right shot.
Our 1st runner-up is Alan Nixon from Ballito Photo Club with his image “Drinking Buddies”
Our 2nd runner-up is Malie van der Vyfer from National Photographic Club with her image “All out of Love”
Thank you to the judges. They were:
Kim Stevens – Cape Town Photographic Society
Johann van der Walt – Sandton Photographic Society
Charlaine Gerber – Witbank Photo Club
