Roelof, congratulations on your winning image – Uneasy
Roelof says: –
Ons het die voorreg geniet om ‘n aantal dae by Indlovu River Lodge in Mpumalanga te kuier. Die wildreservaat het twee skuilings vir fotograwe, een vir die oggend en die ander vir die middag, wat onderskeidelik oos en en wes front.
Tydens een van ons laat middagsessies was ons gelukkig dat die diere en die gevleueldes die een na die ander ‘n draai kom maak het, onder andere ‘n troppie bobbejane. Dit was nogal besonders om hulle van so naby te kon sien.
Die foto van die twee bobbejane is van dié wat jy nie kan voorsien of beplan nie. Ek het ‘n reeks foto’s van hulle geneem en dié een, met die oogkontak met die fotograaf, was vir my spesiaal.
Die tyd van die dag het pragtige lig gegee, maar die lig was ook terselfdertyd ‘n bietjie skraps. Ek het ook geweet ek moes goeie diepte van veld kry en dat ek die spoed moes opjaag. Die prys wat betaal moes word, is die relatiewe hoë ISO. Die moderne kameras se sensors en die fotoprosessering-sagteware laat ons toe om die ISO te druk. Gelukkig was dit nie nodig om te veel in te zoom nie (“crop”) nie.
Tegniese aspekte – F8, 1/1600, ISO 4000, Lens 500mm, kamera Canon 5dIV, Afstand 11.7m, Metering Mode – Pattern, Tyd van die dag: 16h48, Tyd van die jaar: September.

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Senior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Web site for the duration of the month.
For the Senior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the Senior club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.

Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Senior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
