David Barnes from Tygerberg Photographic Society is our June winner!
David, congratulations on your winning image – School Days
David says:- The theme for our June club competition at CTPS was ‘Moods and Emotions’. I had the idea to make a collage of frames with different faces expressing a variety of emotions.
The model I had a planned to shoot with had the perfect schoolboy look, so we decided to try and portray all the different emotions of the turbulent teenage years. The white shirt also helped with the schoolboy look.
Although we had a lot of fun in the studio pulling a variety of faces, it was difficult to get any sad faces as we were laughing so much!
I could say there is one picture for each day of the week, but actually the uneven number allowed the guy to be in the middle of the frames.
The judge did say that he would have given me an even higher mark if I had given the guy in the last frame on the right two black eyes.
I used a Canon 5D mk 3. Although I love using a tripod in the studio, Martin Barber told me he shoots handheld all the time. So I thought if he can do it, I can do it as well, hahaha. Thanks Martin!
Our 1st runner-up is Adriaan Theron from Magalies Foto Fun Club with “Scorpion Lunch”
Our 2nd runner-up is Corine Ross from Krugersdorp Camera Club with “Hungry”

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Senior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Web site for the duration of the month.
For the Senior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the Senior club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Click here to download instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Senior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
