Bernie van der Vyver from Bethal Fotografieklub is our May winner!
Bernie, congratulations on your winning image – Hoëveld Misoggend
Bernie says:
I took this image on 25 Jun 2020 during A cold misty morning on a farm close to Bethal.
It was a cold morning and the mist was a little too thick to get a decent misty winter landscape. I decided to call it a day and walked back to my vehicle when the mist started to open. The sun above the mist and the reflection beneath in the water caught my eye. The exposure conditions were very difficult and I decided to bracket the exposure from -3 steps up to +1 step. In Photoshop with the help of masking and blending modes I used different parts of each exposure to create the final result.
I used a Canon 5D MK IV with a tripod and a 16-35mm f2.8 lens.
My settings were as follows:
ISO: 250 at 21mm, f13
Shutter speed: varied between 1/2500 to 1/60
Exposure:-3 steps to +1 step
Our 1st runner-up is Michelle Pearson from Hibiscus Coast Photographic Society with “Golden Skies”
Our 2nd runner-up is Joggie van Staden from George Camera Club with “Thunder from above and below”
Thank you to the judges:
Geoff Feldon – Westville CC

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Senior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Web site for the duration of the month.
For the Senior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the Senior club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault can be downloaded here
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Senior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
