Senior Club Competition Winners May 2018

Congratulations to Hein Beukes from Beachcombers Photography Club!

He is our May winner with his image “Crossing Bridges in Lyon”

In March 2017 I went on a business trip to France. Being my first trip to Europe I did not know what to expect. I knew I wanted to capture some high quality photos of the Eifel, therefore I had to take my DSLR. I packed my Canon 80D, 10-22mm wide angle for architecture, 24-70mm and my 70-200mm. And travel tripod. Unfortunately on my way there I manage to crack my 10-22mm in half. I knew I had to revert to multiple frames and stitching them together.

Lyon is the second largest city in France.  The effort and way that the French light up some of their cities at night is mesmerising. As can be seen on this photo, the bland mundane cityscape transforms into a surreal architectural marvel at night time. This was taken at 1am in the morning. (No sleep, too much to photograph)
