Simon Fletcher from Rustenburg Photographic Society is our August winner!
Simon, congratulations on your winning image – Eagle Squaw
This is a composite that took nearly 24 months to come into being. It is a composite of three images: The forest background taken at the 2019 Sabie congress. The stunning model TJ, taken in a studio in July 2020 and the long crested eagle was taken at the amazing Dullstroom Birds of Prey in April this year.
In this month, I then decided to get this composite put together in Photoshop and I was pleased with the end result. This is especially the case when I realized that the image of TJ was taken in JPEG (shock & horror!!). I had just bought a Canon 5D Mkiv and clearly was so excited at the shoot that I had forgot to adjust the default settings to RAW. Thankfully I realized that early enough and continued the rest of the shoot in RAW. Converting this composite to mono I think was fitting for the subject matter. I feel honoured that the judges liked it enough to make it the senior club winner.
Our 1st runner-up is Steyn Joubert from Kriel Fotoklub with “Little Crebe Calling”
Our 2nd runner-up is Elsa E van Dyk from Brandpunt Fotoklub with “On top”
Thank you to the judges:
Shane Else – Benoni Camera Club
Lynne Kruger-Haye – Tygerberg Photographic Society
Andre Norris – Centurion Camera Club

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Senior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Web site for the duration of the month.
For the Senior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the Senior club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault can be downloaded here
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Senior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
