Congratulations to Linza van Aswegen from Vereeniging Photographic Society
Linza is our September winner with the image “Ikanyeni Cub”
Linza says:
All leopard cubs are vulnerable and rely on the protection of the female leopard. Due to this, leopard cubs are not named before they have turned 1 year old.
This is the beautiful Ikanyeni female cub which refers to her mother’s name. This female leopard as well as her cub are in Sabi Sand Game Reserve, bordering the Kruger National Park. I came across the Ikanyeni cub during the morning drive in the golden hour after spending time with her the previous afternoon as well. It really seemed as if she just loved the photographic attention!
I am truly blessed to be able to follow and watch these adorable and exquisitely gracious predators from time to time. Many hours of sitting very patiently, waiting at day or at night at a water hole or even below a tree in expectation of a leopard being on it’s way. Normally being warned by whooping hyena or even tell-tale and loud protesting Vervet monkeys!
Special memorable moments indeed.
Our 1st runner-up is Charles Pentz from Bethal Fotografieklub with “Take off”
Our 2nd runner-up is Leney Stipp from Paarl Photographic Club with “Secretary Bird”
Thank you to the judges:
Heidi Broschk – Edenvale CC

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Junior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Website for the duration of the month.
For the Junior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault can be downloaded here
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Junior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
