“It is such a privilege to have been selected as winner for the junior category for this months PSSA competition! I really am Thrilled.
I am 19 years old and matriculated last year at St John’s College in Johannesburg. I am currently on a gap year and have been teaching and doing a huge amount of photography. My grandparents got me into photography when I was 6 years old and I got my first DSLR when I was 10. From then on I have done as much photography as I could ranging from all the first team sports at school to wildlife photography and my passion – bird photography.
I was in Kenya for a week during the great migration where I took this photo. I have been asked and it is definitely not a composite. In the Maasai Mara it is very much open plains with single trees dotted around. This photo was taken directly after a 3 hour wait for the crossing of around 1000 wildebeest. They proceeded thereafter to graze on the opposite plains under a beautiful cloudy sky which is always present in the Mara. “

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Junior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Website for the duration of the month.
For the Junior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.
Instructions on how to upload your entry onto Photovault can be downloaded here
Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Junior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
