Dewald says:
This image was taken during a 2018 visit to Barcelona, Spain. I was there for a conference, but the amazing architecture of this city inspired me to try my hand at street photography and I attempted some more abstract compositions. This specific image was taken at one of the underground stations, where I tried to capture the ‘business’ of the platform. I played around with the shutter speed and aperture to find the perfect balance of motion and focus, which I didn’t manage at all. However, as the train arrived, I did manage to capture this image with a good balance of motion and a pleasing composition that caught my attention when I browsed through my images afterwards.
It was captured using a Nikon D7100 with a 24-70mm lens at 24mm. I used a shutter speed of 1/4th of a second at an aperture of f 5.6 and kept my ISO to 100.

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Junior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Website for the duration of the month.
For the Junior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.

Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Junior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
