He is our July winner with his image “Almost There”
The image of the Greater Double-collard Sunbird was taken when the sunbird was busy flying around a protea flower whilst reaching out with it’s beak to reach the nectar within the flower. The sunbirds are masters when it comes to drink the nectar from flowers and their beaks are perfectly shaped to reach the nectar within the centre part of the flower. While hovering around the flower the sunbirds present the opportunity to capture the wings of the bird in motion and when playing around with the shutter speed a very nice “wing blur” effect can be captured. The combination of colours between the bird and flower also worked very well for me.
Our 1st runner-up is Dolfie Le Grange from Ermelo Foto Klub with “Vulturine Guinea Fowl”
Our 2nd runner-up is John Spence from Amber Camera Club with “Autumn in the Hex River Valley”

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Junior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Website for the duration of the month.
For the Junior Club Competition Winner of the Month a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.

At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Junior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
