“Ek het die foto tydens verlede jaar se Toyota Warrior Race in Nelspruit geneem. Dit oggend-sonlig was perfek in my guns van agter en ek het geweet, dis nou net om die regte posisie te kry en die perfekte atleet met die lelikste of mooiste uitdrukking terwyl die waterspatsels ook tot die effek moet bydra. Op die regte tyd, regte plek het ‘n jong man met die mooiste stel tande die lelikste gesigsuitdrukking in my rigting gegee terwyl hy deur die modderige waterobstruksie moes deurkruip. Ek het seker 20-30 foto’s van hom geskiet sodat ek die beste een kon kies. Ek het my Canon 5D Merk 4 en Canon 70-200mm gebruik vir die foto. Die verstellings was soos volg, 1/1600s, f3.5, ISO 100.
Translated into English:
I took the picture during last year’s Toyota Warrior Race in Nelspruit. The morning sunlight was perfectly in my favour from the back and I knew I jyst had to get the right position, the perfect athlete with the ugliest or most beautiful facial expression while the water spray also had to contribute to the effect. At the right time and right place a young man with the most beautiful set of teeth gave the uggliest expression in my direction while he had to crawl through the muddy water obstruction. I shot probably 20-30 images of him so that I could choose the best one. I used my Canon 5D Mk 4 and Canon 70-200mm. The settings were 1/1600s, f3.5, ISO 100.”

HOW DOES THIS COMPETITION WORK?
This is a PSSA monthly competition where clubs enter their monthly Junior winner onto Photovault. Appointed judges select the winning image. The monthly winner gets displayed on the home page of our Website for the duration of the month.
For the Junior Club Competition Winner of the Month, a club representative (ideally the Chairperson) submits the club winner via Photovault at www.photovaultonline.com.

Frequently we do require high resolutions of these images as PSSA use them for Print Exhibitions to promote PSSA as well as showcasing the work being done around the country.
At the end of the PSSA calendar year (30 June of each year) the Junior Club Competition Winning Image of the Year is selected.
