Langebaan Congress 2016
Congress is still a buzz word among our members as we are all reflecting on the memories of this event. We all experienced some real inspiring, motivational and educational speakers. The camaraderie as always is a huge plus for Congresses and most enjoyable. Some great images have already been posted on our Facebook page and I am sure there are more to come.
Thank you to the Organising Committee who did a great job in making the 2016 PSSA Congress the success that it was.
Talking about Congresses, South Africa was successful in the bid to host the 2018 FIAP Congress in Durban. Thanks go to Jill Sneesby, Francois Roux and Nevil Tyler who headed the team in promoting SA in this bid. Watch this space for further info on this Congress.
PSSA 2017 Congress will be hosted by Gauteng. Planning etc., is already in the process and a very exciting programme is in the pipeline – keep watching this space as well for all details.
CERPS Congress – just around the corner – 15 October – all info on our web site here and once again some great speakers and photo shoots to enjoy.
NEP Congress 14-16 October, also all info on our web site here.
We certainly are being congressed out, it certainly is great to be a member of PSSA.
3+1 Johannesburg Photographic Exhibition
Next urgent participation is the 3+1 Johannesburg Photographic Exhibition which will be held on 16 October. Entries are now open on Photovault for this. This exhibition is a joint effort between PSSA and CPA (China Photographers Association) which will feature photographs of the major cities – Beijing, Shanghai, Guanzhou and Johannesburg. No costs involved for the photographers to enter 10 images of Johannesburg via Photovault. This will be sponsored by PSSA and Photovault. Please contact Johann van der Walt in connection with this event – closing date for entries is 1st October. All info on this is detailed in Photovault – please READ it carefully.
PSSA continues to boost AVs when and where we can and many of the AVs experienced at Congress were mind blowing. Impala Platinum Club Salon coming up soon, closing 24 September has an AV category. This is a great opportunity to challenge yourself in this media – GO FOR IT GUYS.
Talking of Salons – lots of discussions happened about Salons at the members Forum at Congress, so keep eyes and ears open for all the latest on Salons. The one important matter that cognisance MUST be taken of is that it is now only THREE acceptances irrespective of colour or mono that will be permissable for the IMPALA TROPHY. PLEASE PLEASE stick to this RULE. See the new rules for the Impala Trophy our our web site here.
Clubs are encouraged to do most of the salon judging themselves and where categories are outsourced to other clubs these should be in the same Region. This change is to enable the Salon Director to attend all live judging sessions.
It is also the aim of PSSA that all Salons will be, by July 2018, HD which is also giving time for all Clubs to aim towards this for their monthly meetings etc. A recent survey that was done among the clubs indicates that we are nearly there.
Clubs running Salons PLEASE always include your REGIONAL DIRECTOR in all the correspondence as it is important to keep him/and or her informed with regards the progress of the Salons as they can, as well as the PSSA Salon Director, be of great assistance to you as a Club and as the Salon Director. Salons are a lot of work and it is appreciated the time and effort that Clubs, Salon Directors and the PSSA Salon Director puts in to make this all happen. SALONS challenges us as members – LET US KEEP IT HAPPENING.
Another International Circuit, one that Johann van der Walt has managed to get discount for is the www.olympicphotocircuit.com – check it out and contact Johann with any queries and how to enter to enable you to get the discount. CIRCUITS are encouraging as it helps you get acceptances for promotional purposes at the Club.
Future PSSA Competitions
All PSSA COMPETITIONS from 1 July 2017 will be HD.
PSSA Winners 2016
The PSSA Winners of 2016 competitions such as the interclub competition winners, monthly club winning picture and web site winning picture competitions, best salon images for 2016, magazine, e-newsletters and web sites competitions for the year ended June 2016 have been published on the web site here. FIAP Rule changes
There are some slight changes to the rules with regard applying for your AFIAP/EFIAP but do not panic as it is not major and Jill has informed me of them and as I assist Jill with this I will keep all informed about these changes. Also feel free to contact me in this regard and I will help you.
