Dear Member
In South Africa the cold weather gets to us all as we are spoiled with the wonderful weather that we experience in our wonderful country. All we want to do is to hibernate, keep warm, and perhaps even drink some Glühwein to take away this icy winter.
Perhaps this is what affected the entries for our Club winners this month, 32 Senior Club winners and 30 Junior Club winners. It would be great to see, as the New Year for these Competitions has just started, these figures doubling. It is a great pleasure and honour to see the work being done throughout the country by our Clubs and our judges really enjoy it and comment continually on the standard. A NEW CHALLENGE TO ALL CLUBS – GO FOR IT! Also please remember CHAIRPERSONS that by sending a mail to our web master, Melanie, you can get the download through Dropbox of all the finalists of these competitions to show at your clubs.
We must also remember our WEB SITE WINNING COMPETITION – you need to be a member of PSSA to enter but once again a great honour and privilege to see your image there on the front page of our web site. This month there were 20 entries, LET US DOUBLE THIS FIGURE AS WELL.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE NEW HONOUR HOLDERS
As Jill said in her letter on the Honours Page –
“It is always a thrill when you open your mail to find that you have been successful and unless you were a first time success you are delighted that you have made it this time round, so much so that one quickly forgets all the agonies that went before. You will remember the agonies but your panel was a success and you need to take the credit for it yourself.”
Please read the rest of Jill’s letter under the Honours section as many questions do arise from our members, especially if doing well in National Salons, International Salons and various other competitions etc. it is good to understand the whole procedure of judging under the various aspects of photography judging.
To those who did not perhaps make it completely this time round, don’t give up. It is not always easy to deal with disappointments when you have put a lot of work into your panels but it is important not to let it overcome you, instead maintain a positive attitude and look for opportunities to learn from the situation.

OUR NATIONAL CONGRESS IS AROUND THE CORNER
I am sure all who are registered for Congress are making their final plans for travelling etc. Programme looks exciting and as always the camaraderie experienced at Congresses is great and fun as well as the photographic opportunities in the area. See you there.

To end with, Laetitia gives us every week new challenges on our FB page, which sometimes entails us moving out of our comfort zone. You know what they say about coming out of your comfort zone, it is tough in the beginning, chaotic in the middle but awesome in the end because in the end, it shows you a whole new world. PLEASE CONTINUE with these CHALLENGES in your photography and stimulate, motivate and encourage us all in this wonderful hobby.
