125 Years of photography celebrated
On 30 October this year South Africa’s first photography club, the Cape Town Photographic Society (CTPS), will celebrate its 125th birthday.
The history of photography in South Africa is closely linked to the history of CTPS. The interesting founders of the club, the obstacles faced by early photographers, how the techniques and technologies developed through the decades and other interesting aspects relating to the growth of amateur photography in South Africa will be recorded in the CTPS monthly newsletter, Cape Camera, during the year.
