Witbank Photographic Society

Congratulations go to Charlaine Gerber from Witbank Photographic Society who won herself $10 000 in a photo competition!

Charlaine says: I accompanied my husband on a business trip to Germany for the DTM race. The hosts thought to 'treat' the wives to do shopping in Hamburg. I am not a big shopper, so I was standing in the street with my camera and taking photos of the trams and passers by. I played with slow shutter to catch the movement of the people. As I was taking these photos I imagined what everybody could be thinking and named the photos accordingly as they tell the stories. Germany was bleak and cold that day, so when I got home, about a month later, I started this 'rain' series with the street photos. So this is a fine art composite created with the photo of the person and the tram, and people walking by and edited it in a way as though you are watching the scene through a restaurant or car window with rain drops on it. I think in the end it tells a story.
